SWIM START INSTRUCTIONS.

SPRINT SWIM - ROLLING START

The SPRINT swim is a single, counter-clockwise 1/4 mile loop in Lake Zurich. Swimmers will go off in a self-seeded beach start, we will have signs with estimated swim finish times that volunteers will be holding. (6) Swimmers will line up, side by side before the start mats and go off every 5 seconds.

OLYMPIC

Overall Top 3 Male and Female Finishers in the Olympic
Age Group- 3 deep awards in male and female for the following age groups:

19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 and over. Top 3 Clydesdale, Athena and team relay finishers will also receive awards.

SPRINT

Overall Top 3 Male and Female Finishers in the Sprint.
Age Group- 3 deep awards in male and female for the following age groups:
19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 and over.
Top 3 Clydesdale, Athena and team relay finishers will also receive awards.

The Clydesdale and Athena competitive divisions are based on weight minimums outlined in the USA Triathlon Competitive Rules. Athletes competing in the Clydesdale division must be a minimum of 220 pounds and athletes in the Athena division must be a minimum of 165 pounds. May 21, 2014

4.4. Wetsuits.

Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wetsuit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit. The wetsuit policy for elite athletes shall be determined by the USAT Athletes Advisory Council. The AAC has set the wetsuit maximum temperature for elite/pros at 68 degrees for swim distances less than 3000 meters and 71.6 degrees for distances of 3000 meters or greater.

Effective January 1, 2013, any swimmer wearing a wetsuit with a thickness measured in any part greater than 5 millimeters shall be disqualified.


The area's premier USAT sanctioned Olympic distance triathlon will continue its' tradition in Lake Zurich with the ET Lake Zurich Triathlon Sprint and Olympic event. The event has grown to over 1000 participants and is one of the area's top Olympic distance events. A single loop counter clockwise swim in Lake Zurich. A rolling bike course that is closed to traffic for over 80% of the course, and a scenic run around Lake Zurich and great for spectators is primarily flat and fast.
